The Property of Hate Wiki

Hate is the main antagonist of the story, thus far referred to as a female, and only in passing. RGB's puns about Time and additional speculation about the comic's title, however, could be evidence that "Hate" is indeed the name of this entity.[1] This was finally confirmed by RGB's flashback in Chapter 26[2], where she is also visualized as a pair of scissors.[3]

She appears to be the author and ruler of the world, having the ability to edit out characters[4] who she appears to have created in the first place.[5][6] It is for this reason that many fans have speculated that Hate is actually Sarah Jolley, but this has been firmly debunked.[7][8] She does not appear to have complete control of characters, however, as they have the capacity to refuse her bidding, though not without disastrous[9][10][11] results.

She seemed to work closely with Time,[1][12] and Dial appears to be one of Her agents.[13] It's also been speculated that she may have been the voice that broke the Sun's heart during RGB's story in Chapter 10.

It is implied she took one of Time's eyes, so she can see the future.

Personality[]

From the way various characters respond, it's clear that Hate is as every bit as horrible as her name implies. Julienne rages at her, wondering why her and Melody's existence dissatisfies her if she was the one who turned people into their current forms to begin with, implying that Hate turns human beings who enter the World of Make Believe into their current forms and destroys them if they dissatisfy her in any way. She also has a penchant for merciless rage, having cut TOby to pieces (and later reconstructed him with his own nerves) threatening to erase Dial when he made a joke about Time and brutalizing RGB in their fight, only sparing him because she found his pleas for mercy amusing. She then lets him find heroes, implying that RGB's attempts to save the World of Make Believe are nothing more than an amusing game to her, an impossible task that RGB could never hope to complete. RGB's story to TOby implies that Hate and Time had an abusive relationship that caused Time to run out on her, though it may've been a metaphor for something else.

Assuming that she was also the voice which broke the Sun's heart, it's implied that Hate is manipulative and does whatever she can to keep everyone under her thumb.

Appearance[]

Hate isn't directly seen, though her physical appearance can be inferred by what little is seen of her influence. It's implied that she can cut other characters from the world as seen when Julienne and Melody are suddenly cut out of existence. The scissors appear again when RGB and Hero meet Time, implying that she planned to cut their story short, having foreseen their meeting. RGB reveals that he actually tried to fight Hate herself who uses giant scissors.

During one of RGB's nightmares in Chapter 13, a young girl (or woman) asks RGB if he used to dance and this figure is seen again near the end of Chapter 25 when RGB is seen going down the stairs, ready to find someone who wants to be a Hero.
